Senior Picnic Assignment

•Use your photography skills to document your day during the senior picnic. Shoot a variety of subjects, using your knowledge of the “elements of photography.” (I know that this is the senor picnic, and I want you to have fun, but shoot a bunch of interesting photos too. Go beyond shooting selfies, use your skills to create some amazing photos!)
•Shoot a minimum of 30 different photos throughout the day (6 photos of the same shot of your friend posing for the camera = 1photo). Look for look for candid, not posed photos, of students enjoying the Senior Picnic.
•Think in terms of shooting a mini documentary, with some shots at the beginning, middle and end of the day. What to shoot? Waiting for the bus, riding the bus, getting off the bus in Santa Cruz. The arcade & games, the rides on the boardwalk, face painting, playing on the beach (volleyball, burying friends in the sand…), playing in the ocean (skimboarding, bodysurfing…), lining up for lunch…. returning to the bus, riding home (people sleeping on the bus), getting off the bus… Look for spontaneous candid moments…
•Remember to fill the frame with your subjects…. get closer. Use interesting compositions, light and moments in your images. Vary your stance, up high, down low, close, wide…. try for variety…. an most importantly photograph people’s faces.
•When you return we will look through your images as a group and talk about what worked and what could be better. Then we will pick some photos for you to submit for a grade.
•We will also pick some photos to submit for possible use in the yearbook.
When you submit your images, you will name your photos like this:
P#lastname_picnic1
P#lastname_picnic2
